The Jenesis House, Arizona’s first Black woman-owned resort, offers guests an equally restful and rejuvenating experience where self-care comes first.
Formally billed as “a wellness estate,” the site offers visitors a standout oasis in Sedona’s scenic desert. The holistic experience provides the breathing room many need to stop, check in with themselves, and tend to their needs. Surrounded by red rock, guests are encouraged to soak up the views and nourish their mind-body connection.
The site’s healers specialize in Reiki, sound baths, plant medicine, mindfulness, intuitive living, and more. Among the many activities visitors can do are watercolor therapy, guided hikes, mat Pilates, horseback riding, AVTing, a six-hour wine tour and various types of yoga.
Elsewhere, guests can have a hot drink in the designated Tea House, lie back in the Hammock Lounge, or meditate in the Intuition Tree House. Other options include spending time in the sauna or relaxing in the Himalayan Salt Room. And if they want to be outside, visitors may choose to desert bathe, visit the herb garden, sit at the fire pit, take a dip in the pool or hot tub, or walk the property’s intentionally designed paths.
For even more wellness, practitioners can treat you to herbal therapies or Japanese and Ayurvedic modalities. The onsite spa offers massages, facials, and relaxing scalp treatments. There’s also the opportunity for unique hydrotherapy via an herbal tea bath inside the property’s stunning greenhouse-style bathhouse.
What Else Is There To Know About The Jenesis House?
The site’s 10 guest suites have king or queen beds. Your home away from home will be a warm, inviting space with minimalist, Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired interior design. Breakfast, daily snacks and tea are complimentary with one’s stay — and lunch and dinner are offered at an additional price. The site’s food program features seasonal dishes and farm-to-table picks from the estate’s sustainable garden.
Luckily, you can still find respite at The Jenesis House even if you can’t stay a while. The estate’s website notes that it offers spa services to those with a wellness day pass.
Last month, a press release noted that The Jenesis House had opened reservations for “select immersion stays throughout the year.” The company added that “availability is intentionally limited to preserve the integrity and intimacy of the experience.”
Back in 2021, ahead of its opening, founder Jenesis Laforcarde shared insights with Travel Noire about her inspiration and vision.
Laforcarde explained that after the pandemic, offering a stress-relieving getaway was much needed.
“The last few years have forced many people in this world to reevaluate the options that they have to mitigate the stresses that life imposes upon us all,” she said. “With that in mind, The Jenesis House is an ideal solution that will help people relieve stress in an enjoyable and safe environment.”
