Sheila Johnson’s Salamander Washington DC has rebranded into The Potomac Hotel, Autograph Collection – officially making it a Marriott property

An impending rebrand was speculated earlier this year, and the property debuted on August 5 as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Located between Washington, DC’s Southwest waterfront and National Mall areas, the 373-room hotel is still majority-owned by Henderson Park. The latter is a London-based global real estate firm that acquired the property with Johnson back in 2022. According to a press release, Johnson, the founder and CEO of the Salamander Collection, “will remain a minority partner with Henderson Park in the property.”

Also worth noting, as of the rebrand, Pyramid Hotel Group now manages the site.

The Potomac Hotel, Autograph Collection — What To Know And Expect

The switch is good news for Marriott Bonvoy members, as they’ll now be able to benefit from and utilize their loyalty membership with stays at The Potomac Hotel. In addition to earning and redeeming points, members may also be eligible for room upgrades, discounted rates, and other membership perks.

Certain things that guests love about the property, like its location, Potomac River views, heated indoor pool, and two-level spa, aren’t set to change. Many foodies will be happy to know that the Afro-Caribbean restaurant Dōgon by Chef Kwame Onwuachi will remain on the property’s ground level. However, the Potomac Hotel’s Managing Director Bertrand Mangeot noted that the rebrand brings the opportunity for fresh new offerings on the property.

“Overlooking the Potomac River and moments from Washington’s most treasured landmarks, The Potomac Hotel offers guests an opportunity to experience the city through a unique perspective,” said Mangeot. “As we join Marriott’s Autograph Collection, we are excited to introduce new experiences while staying true to the character our guests know and love. Our dedicated and long-tenured staff will continue creating thoughtful, personalized experiences that reflect both the character of our destination and the genuine hospitality that has always been at the heart of our hotel.”
