Officially debuted April 21, American Airlines’ upgraded Terminal 8, in New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), is decked out with new dining options, vendors, and travel experiences.
The terminal’s transformation is the result of a $125 million commercial redevelopment. JFK details that travelers can expect over 60 dining and shopping options “inspired by the best of New York City.” Of the iconic city staples are Alidoro and an I LOVE NY storefront. Additionally, the terminal includes a variety of Black-owned food and retail vendors to support. These include:
- Beautiful Amore, a skincare shop by Amerrah Danielson
- Bevo’s Kitchen, a small-batch jams and preserves shop by Gracia Clery-Leonce
- Golden Krust, a staple dining option for Jamaican patties by Lowell F. Hawthorne
- Mother Earth, a stop for tonics, herbal remedies, and wellness supplements by Dr. Simone Lord Marcelle
- and BKLYN Blend, a grab-and-go eatery with fresh juices, smoothies, shakes, and nutritious foods founded by Keishon Warren and co-owned by Ralph Warren, Ali Coutard, and Edson Coope
What Else Is There To Know About American Airlines’ Renovated JFK Terminal 8?
Foodies have a lot to explore in the upgraded terminal. Other stops worth visiting are Eataly, Peach Palace by Momofuku, The Boroughs Foodhall, and The Blinded Tiger speakeasy. Terminal 8 is also home to Gameway, where you can eat, drink, and enjoy over 30 gaming stations “featuring PS5, Xbox, PC, and retro consoles.”
American Airlines detailed that the terminal also includes “premium check-in, expanded lounge offerings and baggage infrastructure, and upgraded gate areas with improved seating.” Flyers can escape to Minute Suites for a nap, Jabbrrbox Escape Pods to quietly work, or one of Terminal 8’s four lounges to enjoy their downtime. Promised as “coming soon” by the airport, Terminal 8 will eventually offer a “groundbreaking experiential activation space” called The Show.
From a practical standpoint, travelers will be happy to learn that the walk from airport security directly to their gate in the terminal should be under 10 minutes.
“Everything we do at Terminal 8 is designed around one goal: delivering a better experience for our customers,” said Amanda Zhang, American’s Vice President of Corporate Real Estate. “This opening represents a major step forward in how we serve customers traveling through JFK — bringing together modern design, improved amenities, and thoughtful details that make travel feel easier and more enjoyable.”
