YouTuber and vibrant jet-setter IShowSpeed has set foot in the Caribbean for his latest tour with a major travel industry partnership under his belt.
In collaboration with Expedia, Speed is taking his viral livestreaming across four Caribbean countries. Beginning early April 29 Eastern Standard Time, the 20-year-old content creator, born Darren Jason Watkins Jr., is embarking on a 12-hour island-hopping adventure. His travels are spanning Dominica, Guadeloupe, St. Kitts & Nevis, and St. Maarten — all livestreamed.
A press release details that on the designated site Exspeedia.com, fans will be able to watch Speed’s other globe-trotting pursuits throughout the rest of this year. They’ll also be able to vote on where the content creator should travel next, see behind-the-scenes moments, answer trivia questions, and shop itineraries inspired by Speed’s tours. Additionally, those from the United States, Canada, or Mexico who book and complete their own travel via Exspeedia will have a chance at an IRL meeting with Speed on one of his future adventures.
What Else Is There To Know About IShowSpeed’s Caribbean Tour?
IShowSpeed’s multi-phase collaboration with Expedia is a major move. It also includes branded social media handles and accounts, @Exspeedia, which fans can follow to keep up with the internet personality’s latest comings and goings. It is the first time Watkins has embarked on a tour with an official travel partner. Among the most popular content creators in the world, Speed dominates in the online media landscape and is particularly successful with Gen Z audiences. His tour of Africa earlier this year exponentially increased his reach and viewership, raising his international status as a well-known globetrotter and cultural explorer. Across his platforms, he currently has an audience of over 150 million followers.
Speed’s Expedia partnership reflects attention from one of the travel industry’s biggest booking platforms toward focusing and capitalizing on real-time, creator-driven travel inspiration. The layered collaboration creates opportunities for Speed’s fans to engage with his content and Expedia in uniquely relevant ways, likely to inspire other contemporary travel industry campaigns.
“Travel should be for everybody,” says Speed in the press release. “My fans come from everywhere, and a lot of them don’t always think seeing the world is possible. For me, travel is about really experiencing local culture and being a part of the place you’re visiting — that’s what this Caribbean journey is all about. Expedia makes travel feel accessible and easy, and together we’re showing my community that the world is open to them. I’m excited to bring my fans along for the journey and help them start their own travel adventures.”
Elsewhere on Speed’s 15-island Caribbean tour itinerary are St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Vincent, Antigua and Barbuda, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and more.
Viewers can find Speed’s livestreams on YouTube and Twitch.
